Making Space
A symposium that explores the nuances of home—how we create it, what gives it meaning, and why it matters—Making Space features short presentations by leading minds on a given theme. The program’s 2025–2026 theme is “The House I Grew Up In,” and the inaugural symposium took place in Los Angeles, on November 12.
Stay tuned for details on Making Space’s next iteration.

Our first edition of Making Space, which took place in Los Angeles and was organized with the L.A. Forum for Architecture and Urban Design, brought the theme “The House I Grew Up In” to life. Journalist Frances Anderton, artist Kenturah Davis, director Erich Joiner, designer Sam Klemick, and architects Annie Chu and Joe Dangaran reflected on lessons learned from their childhood homes. Transcripts of their presentations will be published here soon.
